Hi my name is Chyna Macharie, I’m 23 years old, and I’m in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Up until recently I have lived a blessed life. I’ve got a wonderful family, close friends, and enjoyed my studies at New York City College of Technology. But last year I was diagnosed with a disease called Lupus, which caused my own immune system to attack me, and ultimately my kidneys. After an emergency hospitalization, I’m happy to be alive, but life on dialysis has been really challenging. I’m physically exhausted all the time, so much that I’ve had to stop working and put a hold on life in general.
Ask any of my friends or family and they’d probably tell you I’m a little shy when you first meet me. But once I’m comfortable with someone, they see my sense of adventure, passion for cooking, all the love I have to offer, and my enthusiasm for life.
A transplant from a living donor would give me another chance. What that means in terms of a career, I don’t know. To be honest, I’m still getting to know myself. But there’s so much I want to try and explore, places I want to see, and I would like to think I can make a difference in this world. I was able to finish my studies while in the hospital and I’m ready for the next chapter. Even if you’re unable to be my donor, you can help me get there by sharing my story. I would be so grateful.
I would be grateful if you shared this page.
