My name is Rick Janes. Writing this isn’t easy, physically because I’m legally blind. And emotionally because it's hard for me to ask for help. I’m hoping this reaches someone who is willing to be my living kidney donor.

About twelve years ago I had to go to the emergency room to treat a foot lesion. While in the hospital I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. What I didn’t know at the time is that the diabetes was slowly making my kidneys worse. Last year I was hospitalized and was told I needed a kidney transplant.

Even though I’m blind, I try to live life to the fullest. I enjoy exercising, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends. I work as a shipping and receiving clerk for Industries Of The Blind. Receiving a kidney from a living donor would allow me to get off dialysis, stop feeling sick, and let me pay blessings forward to as many people as I can.
